10 Day Itinerary

With 10 days to visit theme parks you will be able to see a decent number of them and have enough time so you won't feel rushed. You won't be able to do everything that Orlando has to offer but you will be able to wet your appetite enough that you will have to come back at a later time. Please remember these itineraries are only suggestions. Each family will be different so please use these as guides and suggestions and modify them to fit your family.

For families with young children (under 12)

Day 1: This is pretty obvious: Go See Mickey! A visit to the Magic Kingdom will be the centerpiece of your Orlando vacation, especially if you have young children. As they walk through the park and Mickey, Pluto, Goofy, and the rest of the Disney characters you will be able to see their eyes light up with joy.

Day 2: Take a visit to Disney's Animal Kingdom. With rides, shows, and live animals abounding you can spend a relaxing day with your family.

Day 3: Take a break from the theme parks and visit one of the Disney water parks. Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon each offer a different experience so pick one and cool off.

Day 4: Head on over to Islands of Adventure. Some of the rides (Dueling Dragons and The Hulk) might be a bit too much for some of the younger children but with Seuss Land and Toon Island there will be more than enough to entertain children and adults alike. Be sure to watch the Sinbad stunt show.

Day 5: Use this day to visit some of the other great attractions in the Orlando area. Gatorland, Silver Springs, or the Jungleland Zoo will all be big hits with the kids and nature lovers. You can also check out places like Ripley's Believe it or Not, Guinness World Records, or Wonder Works. Congo Land miniature golf would also be a great way to spend some time with the family.

Day 6: Explore the world at Epcot. Future World and the World Showcase feature exhibits, rides, and performances that will take you on a trip around the world all in one day.

Day 7: Visit Universal Studios Orlando and enjoy the rides, shows, and exhibits. Learn the ins and outs of some of the most dramatic effects used in TV and the movies.

Day 8: Take a trip through Hollywood by visiting Disney MGM Studios. Enjoy the Beauty and the Beast Stage Show, The Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular, Fantasmic!, and more. Also, for you thrill ride enthusiasts, visit the Tower of Terror and the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. Both of those rides are great and I would highly recommend them.

Day 9: Visit the water park you didn't go to on Day 3. Both parks are distinct and have something different to offer you. In the evening try one of the fabulous dinner shows that Orlando has to offer.

Day 10: Return to your favorite Disney park. If there was something you didn't see at one of the parks go back and see what you missed. You could also split the day between two or three parks if you would like.

The 5 day Park Hopper Plus pass will probably be your best bet for this plan. This ticket will give you 5 days at the theme parks plus to bonus days for the water parks or Disney's Pleasure Island for the adults. Combine this ticket with a 2 day Universal Escape ticket for Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure and you will have seen most of the major attractions in Orlando. You can also order your Walt Disney World and Universal Studios tickets directly off our website here.

For families with older children (12+)

Day 1: Islands of Adventure. This park has more thrill rides than any of the other theme parks in Orlando. If you have a mix of older and younger children the parents can go play with the younger ones in Seuss Landing while the teenagers lose their lunch on the roller coasters.

Day 2: Wet 'n' Wild. With over 36 acres and dozens of slides, flumes, rides and more this #1 rated water park will be entertaining for adults and children alike

Day 3: Take a day trip over to Africa by visiting Busch Gardens in Tampa. It is only a little more than an hours drive from Orlando to get there so you can easily make the trip in one day. With great roller coasters and rides interspersed with live animals and performances it is a great way to spend the day.

Day 4: Visit Universal Studios. Some of the 3-D shows here (Terminator 2 in particular) are amazing. The combination of live action and special effects really draws you in to the story. Also don't miss the old standards like Jaws. The new Men In Black Alien Attack is also one of the most popular attractions in Orlando.

Day 5: On this day I would spend some time exploring some of the smaller attractions Orlando has to offer. Gatorland, Ripley's Believe it or Not, Silver Springs, and many other attractions offer you a chance to take a break from the fast paced theme parks. In the evening check out a dinner show at Arabian Nights or Medieval Times or take the family to one of the fabulous mini-golf courses around the area.

Day 6: If it were up to me I would take this day and do one of two things: Head over to Kennedy Space Center or head to the beach. The Kennedy Space Center is about an hour east of Orlando and provides a great look into a working space center. If you time your vacation right you might even get to see a shuttle launch. If the beach is more your style take a trip up to Daytona Beach. It is about an hour north-east of Orlando and is one of the most popular beaches in the world.

Day 7: Go and see Shamu at SeaWorld. The famous orca and dolphin shows along with other sea creatures and exhibits will provide hours of entertainment. Also try the Kraken, the tallest and fastest floorless roller coaster in Florida.

Day 8: Time for a visit to the Magic Kingdom. Even older children and adults can help but be caught up in the Disney magic. Your teenage son might not want to run around getting hugs from Mickey and Pluto but they will still be able to have fun here.

Day 9: This would be a good day to shop and buy all the souvenirs for the people back home. Downtown Disney has many different shops for Disney merchandise and there are also numerous outlet malls in the area. You could also check out the SkyCoaster in Oldtown, Kissimmee or try out SkyVenture and freefall without ever leaving the ground.

Day 10: Head back over to Islands of Adventure to finish off your vacation. If you missed some of the rides the first time this would be a great time to hit them. You can also split the day between Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios if you would like. It is only a 5-10 minute walk between the parks.

The 5 Park Flex Ticket would be the best way to go for this itinerary. It will get you unlimited admission to Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, and Wet 'n Wild. The ticket is good for 14 days from the first day of use. If you don't want to take the trip over to Busch Gardens. You will also need a one day ticket to Disney World which is available for purchase at the gate and a ticket for the Space Center which you can purchase online.
